Legal requirements
All forms of shooting are closely regulated & as a full bore rifle club
we have to abide by current firearms legislation & Home Office
rules. Additionally, we apply NRA rules in the way we operate the
range & MOD rules when shooting on military ranges. Together
with the club’s Constitution & Bye Laws these regulations dictate the
requirements for individuals wanting to join the club.
Joining as a novice
For individuals without a firearms licence & little or no shooting experience the
path to membership is:
1. Attend the range as a guest & observe.
2. If interested, become a probationer member by completing the necessary forms
& paying the appropriate fee.
3. Undertake a 6 month probationary period of training & supervised shooting.
4. Following a satisfactory probationary period apply for full membership which
enables unsupervised shooting with a club rifle & is grounds for applying to your
local police force for a firearms licence & thence to purchase your own rifle. If
successful a joining fee is payable.
Joining as an experienced shooter
For individuals with a firearms licence &/or membership of a recognised fullbore
rifle club the path to membership is:
